AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading
insurers, and Charter Ping An Insurance Corporation (CPAIC), a general insurer
owned and operated by AXA Philippines, have been recognized for good corporate
governance in the Golden Arrow Awards at the ASEAN Corporate Governance
Scorecard (ACGS) recognition ceremony.
During the virtual award ceremony, AXA Charter Ping An, received the award for
Most Improved Company in recognition of its various programs that allowed the building
of trust among its stakeholders. These include significantly improved disclosures
on policies and activities relating to its stakeholders, as well as
reports and annual financial statements which disclosed ACGS-relevant
information. They also made the Code of Ethics more available and accessible to
customers and partners.
"We thank the Institute of Corporate Directors, the
Insurance Commission, and the Securities and Exchange Commission for this
recognition,” said Rahul Hora, President and CEO of AXA Philippines. “We are
grateful that AXA’s efforts are being honored and we are encouraged by the
Golden Arrow Awards to do even better, especially during these challenging
times.” He continued, “This inspires us to continue achieving our purpose of
acting for human progress by protecting what matters.”
The ACGS is an assessment tool used in six participating countries of the
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) including the Philippines,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam to determine if an
organization is being managed well and is compliant with government
regulations.
The goal is to improve the corporate governance standards and practices of
publicly listed companies. Among the factors considered are the rights of
shareholders, equitable treatment of shareholders, role of stakeholders,
disclosure and transparency, responsibilities of the board, as well as bonus
and penalty in organizations.
The ACGS Golden Arrow Awards is organized by the Institute of Corporate
Directors, a non-stock, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the
professionalization of Philippine corporate directorship.
